*The Taj Mahal is an ivory-white marble mausoleum in the Indian city of Agra. It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal; it also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan himself.
The Taj Mahal images on this website are from the India retreat I led in 2019. During my exploration of this ancient city, I discovered an old watch tower (also built by the Mughal conqueror), right on the edge of the holy river Yamuna, now inhabited by bats, goats and peacocks! These beings were kind enough to let me borrow their dwelling for some time so that I could practice yoga, overlooking the Taj during a glorious sunset.
